We are looking for a dynamic Director of Engineering to ensure the smooth daily operation and guest appeal of the hotel by supervising the operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel equipment and facilities. Will oversee the maintenance staff and will work with contractors to coordinate projects. Will also be responsible for grounds crew to maintain outside landscaping.
Specific duties include: having good communication with Housekeeping and Front Office to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for guest rooms and public areas; creating capital and repairs and maintenance budgets; diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment within the hotel; ensuring good relationships with internal and external customers; developing, implementing and managing energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses, including identifying and environmentally-friendly systems and equipment; and managing staff related activities, including recruitment, performance management, training, career planning, disciplinary matters, and team motivation.
Requires an Associate’s degree in Engineering, or similar, with a minimum of five years of experience leading an engineering/maintenance team; Bachelor’s degree is preferred. We are looking for a seasoned leader with a proven track record in hiring, training and mentoring staff. Must have vast knowledge of building maintenance, and be proficient at budgeting material and labor expenses and submitting comprehensive assessments to the General Manager. This positive, can-do person must have good communication skills, the ability to deliver high level of customer service, the ability to respond to a range of different work situations, the grace to work under high pressure, and be proficient with relevant computer programs.
