We are a small, family-run, and team-oriented winery focusing on making low-intervention, cool-climate wines sourced from grapes in the Sta. Rita Hills. We are looking for a self- motivated and enthusiastic Tasting Room Associate who can also help with production and events. This hybrid role will give you a chance to learn about all aspects of the wine business, focusing on direct-to-consumer. You’ll be exposed to winemaking, learn about wine selling via staff wine tastings and by connecting directly with our guests in the tasting room. We would love a candidate who is interested in wine marketing and can support our marketing efforts. SAMsARA is growing quickly and we want you to grow with us! We have two locations: Goleta and Los Olivos so you will need to be willing to work at each (based in Goleta) and have reliable transportation. We are also looking for someone who has a relatively flexible schedule and is available to work weekends. Responsibilities – Goleta & Los Olivos Tasting Room -Guide the guests through their wine tasting experience – focus on geology/climate of our winemaking region, our specific winemaking practices, varietal details and origins, history of our winemaking region -Host private tastings, give winery tours with confidence and proper service techniques -Participate/pour at SAMsARA events – Wine club pick up parties, wine festivals, winemaker dinners, live music events, World of Pinot Noir, Roar and Pour etc. -Help with social media, marketing and wine club -Consistently demonstrate a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional attitude and a strong attention to detail -Connect with each guest so they leave feeling like they are part of the SAMsARA community -Ask for sales related to wine clubs and up-selling -Identify our wine club members and make them feel extra-special -Maintain a clean, sanitary and welcoming environment in the tasting room Desired Qualities & Attributes -A contagious enthusiasm for wine (and a strong motivation to continue learning) -At least 2 years wine industry and/or hospitality experience – tasting room/DTC sales preferred! -Flexibility to work in both our Los Olivos and Goleta tasting rooms -Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills -Highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to work in a diverse environment -Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, G drive, and Dropbox -Must have a California driver’s license and reliable transportation -Be able to lift 40 lbs. and stand for long periods of time The position is part-time, ~20 hours per week (2-3 days) and it has the potential to grow into a full-time salaried position for the right candidate who wants to grow with us in this DTC sales and hospitality role.
