Bike Mechanic & Bike Guide

Join the team of passionate cyclists at Santa Barbara Bikes To Go. We carry Santa Barbara's largest rental fleet of high-end road bikes, mountain bikes, electric bikes, hybrids, and cruisers. We are a small and easy-going team of mechanics, tour guides, and surfers. We also have an adventure and bike tour side of the business known as Cal Coast Adventures. This role can be full time or part time. The role can strictly be a bicycle mechanic/technician or it can be a blend of leading bike tours and working on bikes. We're looking for a candidate with a minimum of 2 years of bike shop experience. Your primary role will be to maintain our fleet of road, mountain, hybrid, e-bikes, and cruisers with bike tours thrown in here and there if interested. We strive every day to foster a friendly and supportive bike shop environment. A friendly demeanor and quality customer service skills are a must. If you enjoy riding and want to do some tour guide work as well that can be discussed if desired so long as you bring energy and passion to the role. Prepare to work on a bike during the interview process. Expectations: Minimum of 2 years of bike shop experience. Mechanical proficiency in all types of bicycles and all general bike shop repair techniques. Assemble new bikes. Staying on task while working alongside other mechanics. Keeping focused and productive when working alone at the bike stand. Must be able to work on Di2 shifting and hydraulic disc brakes (or willing to learn) Friendly and patient behavior with clients. Punctual arrival for scheduled shifts. Clean driving record for bike deliveries and bike pickups. Bike tech certifications are a plus but not required. Compensation will depend on your experience and ability. Compensation will likely range between $20 - $22 / hour. Gratuities / Tips are not uncommon when helping with tours and rentals.
