Mayor Randy Rowse and Service Organizations Honor Exceptional Employees and Businesses Committed to Employing People with Disabilities
The 17th Annual Mayor’s Awards will take place at:
The Cabrillo Pavilion on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 8:00 am - 9:00 am.
Join us as our keynote speaker Sophia Lee-Park highlights the importance of ensuring that disability is part of the equity equation when it comes to employment.
Mayor Randy Rowse will comment on Santa Barbara’s commitment to -providing access and employment for people of all abilities, particularly during the pandemic, and he will honor recipients of the following awards:
The Employment/Accommodation Award will be given to an employer who reflects the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act in employment practices.
The Design/Accessibility Award will be presented to a person or entity that has developed innovative and creative solutions for accessible structures, buildings, or services, or provided accommodations to create equal and aesthetic access.
The Non-Profit Award will be presented to an organization that embraces the spirit of inclusion and accessibility.
The Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Effort will be presented to an organization that has gone "above and beyond" in any of the above categories.
This year’s event organizers include representatives from each of the following:
California Department of Rehabilitation, City of Santa Barbara, Tri-Counties Regional Center, PathPoint, Momentum Work Inc., Employer Advisory Council Santa Barbara, Workforce Development Board, Jodi House, Santa Barbara City College, and the Santa Barbara Unified School District, and other independent members of the planning committee.
