Streets Maintenance Worker

The City of Santa Barbara Public Works Department is seeking a Streets Maintenance Worker I to join our Streets Team. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of duties including maintenance, construction, installation and repair of City streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and pavement markings. Install street barricades, cones and direct traffic around worksites. Operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment and power tools. Maintain hand tools, assigned equipment and vehicles. Rake and spread asphalt; seal cracks and patch streets; construct forms, lay concrete and finish concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Maintain and clear waterways. Prepare, install, repair, and replace City signposts and signs. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner. Respond to emergencies as needed and support special events.
