Air Quality Specialist Extra Help

The Position: The APCD is looking for two paid, limited-term, part-time Air Quality Specialists to work in our Compliance Division approximately 15-40 hours/week with a hybrid remote work schedule. The Compliance Division enforces permits, rules, and regulations; inspects businesses; reviews records; and more. The position includes up to 40 hours/year of paid sick leave. Experience and/or Education: 2+ years work experience and/or a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a major in chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental or atmospheric science, or a closely related technical or scientific field. Regulatory inspection/enforcement experience is preferred. Job Duties: Tasks may include, but won't be limited to, field inspections; generating compliance documents including inspection reports and Notices of Violation; and reviewing reports and record submittals. After a training/evaluation period, tasks will be performed more independently. Work is performed in office and field environments. May require prolonged sitting, reaching, turning, kneeling, bending squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The need to lift, drag and push equipment or other materials weighing up to 40 pounds may also be required. Special Requirements: Possession of a Class C California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Eligibility and Interview: The cover letter, resume, and responses to the supplemental questions will be used to determine placement on the eligibility list. Interviews are tentatively scheduled to occur the week of November 13, 2024. Candidates' final oral interview score and rank on the eligibility list will be determined by their interview responses. Candidates must receive a percentage score of at least 70% on their oral interview to be placed on the eligibility list. Conditional Job Offer: Once a conditional offer of employment has been made, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a background check, which includes conviction history check, and satisfactory reference checks.
